With over 300,000km clocked up travelling across the Central Queensland region uncovering and supporting Rugby League talent over the past 3 years, the CQ NRL Bid was in desperate need for some new wheels. The Central Queensland Toyota Dealer Group have thankfully come to the rescue with a Toyota Prado to keep the bid on the road.
Development Manager from the CQ NRL Bid, Ian Webster, can’t wait to get out and about in the new Prado, “We run a multi-level grassroots rugby league program that has four levels starting from schools to scholarships and spans across the entire Central Queensland Region.
“We’ve got kids in the program as far away as Mackay, Bundaberg and out west to Longreach and beyond, so we rack up the kilometers pretty fast,” said Webster.
CQ Toyota Dealer Group Representative Ian Weigh is equally excited about the new partnership with the CQ NRL Bid, “They are doing a great job in establishing the grassroots of footy around the region and it is only a matter of time before all this hard work results in a team for CQ.
“We believe that footy is the life blood of our CQ region so it made sense for Ian Weigh Toyota, Bill Robertson Toyota , Central Highlands Toyota, Linemac Toyota, Bundaberg Toyota and Wide Bay Toyota to get on board and partner with the CQ NRL Bid to keep their development program going strong,” said Ian Weigh.
The CQ NRL Bid Junior Development Program is a highly innovative rugby league junior development program that is setting the foundations for the future CQ NRL Team.
The NRL is currently littered with CQ talent that have all come through the region but had no end product to apply their trade, therefore having to leave home to follow a dream. The CQ NRL Bid is trying to correct this by providing these once in a lifetime opportunities to CQ kids and bring our very own NRL team to Central Queensland.
If you would like to support the work that the CQ NRL Bid is doing with the Junior Development Program, there are still sponsorship opportunities available. Find out more by visiting www.cqnrlbid.com.au/juniordevelopment to find out more or by calling the office direct on (07) 4922 7003.
